The Friendship Circle of CT hosted a “Mom’s Night Out” at the home of Rabbi and Avi Popack. This event was aimed at inspiring, connecting, and pampering the incredibly dedicated mothers of the FC participants.
A spa like sanctuary was created and each mother was treated to a manicure and a head, neck, and back massage by a team of professional therapists. Eleanor, chabad’s supreme chef, whipped up a rather delectable array of soups, savories, and desserts that would have tickled the fancy of every desiring pallet. During the evening, one of the FC mothers, Sharen Silbowitz, shared pertinent aspects of her experiences and her incredibly inspiring outlook on life.
There was a magical ambiance throughout the evening which transported the mom’s beyond all outside matters. Everybody felt a tremendous sense of gratitude for the opportunity to connect and to be part of such a warm circle of friendship. One of the mom’s had the following to say: “It was a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with each other and share some ‘stories’ about our ‘miracle’ children”.
FC changes tire >>
It happened midday, Friday afternoon about 35 degrees outside as 2 young men trekked their way out to Hout Bay to enjoy some time with their friend Eytan. As they pulled up to Eytans house they see him lying under his mothers car jacking it up off the ground. The three of them worked together to properly put on a brand new tire thanks to the help of lead mechanic Eytan.
“We wake up every morning and learn new things, today it was how to change a tire. I can't thank Eytan enough for the lesson”. Meir Fellig Friendship Circle Volunteer Coordinator relates.

Rosh Hashana - 2012 >>
The FC anticipated the holiday of Rosh Hashan by crafting their very own shofars out of genuine, raw, ram horns. The Shofar factory was lead by Rabbi Levi Popack, joined by Raphi Ress. After much measuring, sawing, sanding, and varnishing the children began to test out their hand crafted efforts, and when a high pitched sound came bellowing out of their shofars, they were extremely proud of a good days work.
To get into the new year spirit, chocolate coated apples and other sweet treats were made by the children, much to their delight! Everyone also got to design a special take-home Rosh Hashana greeting card for their families. To end off the festivities, we cut into a birthday cake to celebrate the birthday of Liora Silbowitz. We all sang happy birthday, and some spontaneous dancing by Daniel Sacks and Jodi Schaffer really added to the joy of the day.
